PBA's 40th season to open at Philippine Arena

The Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan will serve as the site of the opening of the 40th season of the PBA on October 19.

The day's doubleheader at the 55,000-seat venue built by Iglesia Ni Cristo will feature expansion clubs Kia Motors versus Blackwater Sports and crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel versus Talk 'N Text.

Inaugurated last July 21, the Philippine Arena is at the center of the 50-hectare Ciudad de Victoria, a tourism enterprise established by Iglesia Ni Cristo in time for its centennial celebration. It is said to be the largest indoor arena in the world.

During its opening, church officials said the arena is available for use by interested Filipino and international organizations provided their activities will be in accordance with the Bible’s teachings.

“We reserve the right to determine what kinds of activities will be held here based on wholesome Christian principles and values that our church upholds,” Iglesia Ni Cristo evangelist Bro. Bienvenido Santiago Jr. said during the arena's inauguration. — JST, GMA News
